by yourselves to a quiet place

Couples Retreat:
October 3-5, 2008
Theme:
"A Marriage That Lasts for Life"

If you grew up in the seventies like us, you may remember these words to a popular song:
“Life, so they say, is but a game and we let it slip away. Love, like the Autumn sun, should be dyin' but it's only just begun.”
Life can be a game, but building a marriage that lasts for life requires cooperation, not competition. It’s about winning together. Come put the fun back in your marriage at this year’s Couples Retreat. You will be challenged to get your “game on” by speakers, musicians, and staff who love the Lord. We promise to cater to your every need, so you can play all you want.

Speaker: Craig & Beth Jarvis
Craig Jarvis serves as the Senior Pastor of Memorial Baptist Church just outside Madison, Wisconsin. He and his wife Beth have been blessed with four beautiful daughters: Abigail, Hannah, Karis and Rebekah.
Originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, Craig has worked as adjunct professor at Cornerstone University, spoken at various conferences and retreats, served as a youth pastor for almost 10 years, but still thinks his most exciting challenge has been raising his 4 girls for the last 8 years. Craig exhibits a lively and engaging speaking style and an ability to tailor his teaching to suit the audience's needs. His enthusiasm and humor, coupled with a passion to communicate biblical truth, will be effective.

Music: Robbie & Denise Grimes
This husband and wife team has performed many genres of music in the past, but for them nothing compares to sharing God's love and faithfulness through song. Responding to God's call, Robbie and Denise formed Higher Ground in 1997. God began showing Robbie and Denise how to merge their desire to sing for Him with their commitment to family. This couple believes others need to hear that God loves their families too. Their desire is that the audience leaves with and understanding of the gifts of salvation Jesus Christ has to offer and a renewed feeling of joy, peace, and commitment to Him and to their own families. Striving to do God's will and singing for His glory, together the Grimes are reaching for a Higher Ground.
