Summer
Staff Opportunities
...more than just a job |
Spend the
summer making an impact on the lives of others as
you serve
them in a Christian environment. You will work
together with other young Christians in challenging
situations. Cedar Lake Bible Conference Center is
looking for a few good young people who are willing
to work hard, long hours. We are looking for people
who want to be challenged and want to grow in their
relationship to Christ, doing a
variety of things. Our summer staffers serve as
counselors, maintenance workers, housekeeping
assistants, nursery workers, audio technicians,
lifeguards, boat drivers, arts and crafts teachers,
initiative game facilitators, and even more. We will train
you for some of these jobs and take advantage of some of the skills you bring with
you. Along with the above areas for service, you will
also get
an opportunity to serve as counselor during the
weeks of camp! The opportunity to make an impact on
the lives of kids that lasts a lifetime.
Some of them will leave believing
that you are the "greatest counselor on the face of the
earth!"

STAFF
REQUIREMENTS:
Your job this summer…
Summer
begins with staff orientation. You will be trained and begin to
build a team with the other summer staffers. During this time
you learn many things that will help you to have a successful
summer.
Summer 2008 will be made up of conferences, retreats, and youth
camps. Your responsibilities will change as the dynamics of the
groups we serve change. During the youth camps you will spend
most of your time as a counselor with the kids. Because of this
responsibility, every summer staffer will have a background
check completed before counseling duties can be assigned.
We hire staff for the entire summer. Staff Orientation begins on
June 10, 2008 and the last camp is over on August 1, 2008. You
will be expected to be available at the camp for the entire
period of that contract. Any exceptions must be prearranged with
the Executive Director before summer begins.
Staff training will be a time of spiritual preparation, fun,
fellowship, and training to prepare you for the rigors of a long
summer working at camp. It will be a time of reinforcement and
encouragement that will give you the tools you need to serve our
campers and guests. You will make some lifelong friends and
learn some lifelong skills.
Our staff training this year will include times of worship and
praise together, times of personal reflection and meditation,
training for facilitating initiative games, training for
handling emergencies, orientation to the facilities, and loads
of fun together with the other summer staff and full-time staff.
The Executive Director and other full-time staff will be leading
your training.
Basic requirements…
Following are some of the basic
assumptions toward summer staff:
- A lifestyle
that shows a love for Jesus Christ and His teachings
- Willingness to
live and grow as a Christian in "around-the-clock"
involvement with campers and guests.
- Ability to
take and follow instructions and accept responsibility while
showing initiative in everyday activities.
- Exhibit
standards of appearance and behavior that show a Christian
attitude.
- Work well with
others with the ability to "go the extra mile".
- No use or
acceptance of alcohol or tobacco
