Beautiful Grounds

Our staff wants your stay with us to be a memorable one. Free time for your group might be spent lounging on cozy sofas and chairs in front of an inviting fireplace, or taking a moment of reflection surrounded by nature in one of the gazebos or benches…maybe even relaxing on a charming porch swing overlooking the lake. Find a more active recreational outlet with a match on the tennis court or a pick-up game of basketball.

Oaks Dining Hall

Oaks Dining Hall is located on the crest of a hill overlooking beautiful Cedar Lake in Northwest Indiana. The walks and terraces are designed with plenty of vistas for your viewing pleasure. Take a seat in the lower level deck chairs; listen to the waves lapping against the shore or just pause on the winding walkways to reflect.

Torrey Auditorium

Torrey Auditorium is one of the oldest buildings on site. Set just back from the bluff overlooking the lake, it is one of the original Monon Railroad structures. Renovated in the fall of 2000 with a new foundation, windows, carpet, seating, lighting and sound system, heating and air conditioning, this building is full of history and has been listed on the registry of National Historic Landmarks.

There are a variety of options for comfortable accommodations at Cedar Lake Ministries. We serve all types of groups with lodging ranging from private hotel-style rooms to family-style lodging with kitchenettes, and typical camp housing with rustic dorm-style rooms and bunkbeds. Your choice depends on your group’s needs.

Enjoy the ambience of a crackling fire and fine company. Set on a tree lined crest, lake views on three sides greet you in the 325-seat Oaks Dining Hall. Everyone will find a perfect seat to relax and enjoy a fine meal and conversation. Panoramic views and seasonal beauty provide refreshment for your soul while our award winning culinary staff will delight your palate. If you don’t have something you need, just let us know and we will be happy to serve you.

Lakeview Lodge exterior

Lakeview Lodge has dorm-style housing with bunk beds. It features 10 rooms with either two or three sets of bunks in each room for a total capacity of 50 people. The center meeting room divides the two wings. The north and south wings each have a separate bathroom with showers, which makes this building perfect for a youth retreat or mixed gender adult retreat. Lakeview is a classic camp-style lodge with a lot of character. There are no linen provided in bunkhouse accommodations

Hickory Lodge is one of two dorm-style buildings and would be considered typical camp housing. It has 11 rooms with two bunk beds in each of 10 rooms, and three bunk beds in one room. The Hearth Room with its blazing fireplace can be set up as a lounge or meeting room. The two bathrooms can be separated out for men and women or used jointly if you are considering an all-men’s or -women’s retreat. No linens are provided in the bunkhouses. Hickory Lodge houses a maximum of 46 guests.

If you’re coming with a family or a circle of friends, our Cedars Lodges are an ideal choice. Each unit sleeps from 1–8 people with a maximum capacity of 96 in 18 units. Some units feature a fully equipped kitchenette, with dining table, and a private bath. Many of our units also have the option of rollaway beds or pull-out couches, which can offer a larger capacity than our total of 96. Our Cedars Meeting Space is located under units 9 and 10. Make sure to speak with the Retreats staff to see if this meeting room is available for use during your stay.

The Rest-A-While Lodge at Cedar Lake Ministries has been a warm and welcoming home-away-from-home since 1936. As you enter Rest-A-While, you are greeted by an inviting fireplace and generous lounge area in the lobby, great for relaxing or catching up with friends. The building has four wings with 46 rooms total and will sleep a maximum of 180 guests.

The majority of rooms are similar in setup in that they have:

a private bath
a bunk bed and
a double or queen bed

Rest-A-While also has a conference room in the back of its lower west wing that leads out onto a porch, perfect for breakout groups or seminar meetings. The meeting space, called the Boldt Room, has a full-sized fridge, a sink, and a bathroom.

Rec Room

Occasionally, the Rec Room is available as a meeting space. The Rec Room holds several round tables with chairs and can be set up with a TV or projector. A small sound board is available to play music through the speakers. And, of course, there are foosball tables, a carpetball table, a ping pong table, and a pool table available for use, as well as a selection of board games. Make sure to talk to your Retreats planner to see if this option is a good fit for your group.

Lakeview’s meeting room is a small meeting space in-between the north and south wings of the Lakeview lodge. The meeting room boasts a view of the lake and has a full-size fridge and a microwave. The Lakeview meeting room is just right for small sessions and breakout groups.

Hickory’s meeting room, historically known as the Hearth Room, is a small meeting space in the Hickory lodge. This cozy space has a fireplace, a pull-down projector screen, and a microwave. Hickory’s meeting room is a great addition to your retreat and is perfect as a breakout space or a place for late-night meetings without having to leave your lodge.

The Boldt meeting room is found in the back of the west wing of Rest-A-While. It contains a sink, a separate entrance with a porch, and a bathroom. Boldt is perfect for smaller groups or breakout sessions.
