Cedar Lake Ministries exists to “provide a life-changing environment for evangelism and spiritual growth.”
The environment is the beautiful grounds that is God’s creation, partnered with programmatic elements that enhance a Day Camper’s experience. In Romans 1:20, it says, “For His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.” As children were involved in camp and interacted with God’s wonderful creation, their eyes were opened to a loving Creator that desires to be in relationship with them. Evangelism occurred as Team Leaders shared the gospel through making salvation/gospel bracelets with their campers, an 8-year-old boldly shared his testimony of salvation during session times, sessions were grounded in the truth of Scripture, and life change occurred when decisions were made to be saved.

As the summer progressed we saw a steady increase in Day Campers returning for multiple weeks. As a result, this gave Team Leaders an opportunity to build relationships that lead to deeper spiritual conversations that fostered spiritual growth. These conversations led to decisions of obedience by deciding to be baptized, committing to reading their Bibles and pray faithfully, and taking their experiences and living out lessons and small group sessions. This is what makes Catalyst Day Camp distinctively different from other camps: remaining faithful to God and the mission laid out before us, and, as a result, life change occurs!

We served 497 campers this year. What an incredible responsibility and blessing for our Summer Staff and our year-round staff, as well as all of our volunteers. These campers teach us just as much as we strive to teach them. We continue to pray that the seeds that have been planted will grow and flourish and that their hearts will be directed toward Christ and His overwhelming love for them. We pray that they would strive to meet His purposes for their lives and would seek to glorify God in all they do.

Campers Interviewed for Appreciation Banquet

Cedar Lake Ministries wanted to say a big thank you to our volunteers and supporters who came to our 2019 Appreciation Banquet on August 25th. We put together a video interviewing four campers who came for a good portion of our All-Summer Day Camp. These campers shared from their hearts what CLM meant to them. Our camps can’t happen without the help of our volunteers and support of our donors. We sincerely thank everyone who helped kids like these campers come to camp this year.

Joni & Friends Chicago Partners with Cedar Lake Ministries

Young Woman with Little Girl
Joni & Friends Chicago and Cedar Lake Ministries have begun a new partnership to offer a special needs week-long retreat to families with disabilities! We’re so excited to host the first Chicago Urban Family Retreat that Joni & Friends is putting on! Joni & Friends’ worldwide family retreats give families affected by disability the opportunity to retreat, relax, and refresh in an encouraging, safe, accessible, and Christ-centered environment. Families will get to experience the loving and fun environment of camp, enjoying worship, teaching, and age-appropriate activities. It’s also our honor to treat them like royalty, as children of our living God, and to make sure they are able to experience an environment that allows meaningful connections to happen between families that understand the challenges and triumphs of living with disability.

If you’re interested in learning more or signing your family up for the retreat, visit Joni & Friends’ website for more information.

New Gorilla Ball

Activities Updated at CLM

New Gorilla Ball
Volunteers are a most important resource for any ministry, and CLM is no exception.  We are grateful to our volunteers Ron and Paul this summer!

Ron worked hard to make our new Human Foosball happen, but he also built two new Gorilla Ball pits! Gorilla Ball (also called GaGa Ball) is one of our most popular camp activities. Our old pit was getting pretty worn out, so Ron blessed us by building two new and beautifully designed pits!
9-Square-In-The-Air is another great activity. Our younger campers, however, are generally too short to really enjoy this game. Not anymore! Paul made a new 9-Square-In-The-Air with adjustable legs! Now our younger campers can join in the game as well, and they’re loving it!
